I really was a bus driver.
I drove a school bus in my former home town in Ohio for 25 years (yes, 25!)
. I am now retired. I did have bus number 43 and was given a brand new
bus in 2000 to drive with the number 9. I used to drive about 7 1/2
hours a day: morning, kindergarten in the middle of the day, and afternoon take
home. But then I decided to cut back and just do morning and afternoon.
I had a bunch of terrific kids to drive, they were a good group and made my job
very easy because they knew how to follow the safety rules and didn't give me
too hard a time. One run ( I had 2) went to a private school in another town
and was like taking a drive into the country each day; not like a job at all.
We went through a national recreation area and could see deer and other wildlife
frequently.
I am married and we have three terrific grown daughters that are married and
three
marvelous grandsons and three granddaughters.
I had a computer
for about 10 years but was not on the internet.
In 1999 we invested in a new system and voila! I was hooked! I started
surfing around and discovered some wonderful sites out there and wanted to see
if I could do one myself. I am a frustrated teacher; I have a degree
in elementary education but could never really catch on anywhere and now that I
am doing this, I know it is all for the best.
We had a huge Great Dane
and a few fish in an aquarium. Now Mims has gone to doggie heaven and the
aquarium in over the garage in storage! I love movies and have
a collection that I don't get to watch very often; when I do it is usually in
shifts!, you know, part now -part later. I have all of the Columbo series that
I recorded myself and lots of Disney movies. We do
watch the A&E channel and AMC and Turner Classics, Discovery Channel is
good and also The Learning Channel. But as I said, we don't have much time for
tv.
I love to read and have what people call my own library because our whole
living area was surrounded with bookshelves. Now that we have moved to Florida,
the bookshelves are in my husband's den. My favorite author is Agatha
Christie but my favorite book is Hawaii by James Mitchner. I have done lots of
hobby-type things, some not too badly. I make Ukrainian Eggs
and have had
several displays at the library and high school and have taught a winter
recreation class on "how to" as well as private lessons in homes and given a demo at the library. I have
been at 3 major Christmas season shows where my eggs were well received. I
really
enjoy tooling leather but the last thing I made was a belt for my husband about
13 years ago. I like too many things!
I hope this satisfies anyone's curiosity, but if you really want to know
something else, you can always check our personal pages or ask!
